Value of a dollar by year
Updated Updated for 2026 tax law
What a dollar from each year since 1913 is worth in September 2026 prices — and the reverse, what one of today's dollars would have been worth back then. For any other amount or pair of years, use the inflation calculator.
How to use this table
- Find the year. The "$1", "$100" and "$1,000" columns show what that much money from the year is worth in September 2026 dollars.
- For other amounts, multiply the $1 column by your amount (e.g. $25 from 1985 = 25 × the 1985 value).
- "Today's $1 then" is the reverse: what a 2026 dollar would have been worth in that year — handy for reading old prices in today's terms.
